ABOUT
OUR SERVICES
Pressures and problems on individuals and families are often
overwhelming. Where does one turn in times of stress? When you need
to talk to someone in confidence to clarify your thoughts and
feelings and more clearly identify the choices that you want to
make, counselling may assist you. Following are some of the services
we provide.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING
If you have problems that are upsetting you, counselling may help
you to settle them.
FAMILY COUNSELLING
When family members can't get along or they have difficulties with
inlaws or relatives, family counselling may facilitate communication
and problem solving.
MARRIAGE COUNSELLING
Misunderstanding one another is common in relationships. Counselling
may help mutual understanding and appreciation of one another.
SEPARATION COUNSELLING
Individuals undergoing major changes in their relationship can be
helped significantly by counselling.
ALCOHOL AND OVER USE OF DRUGS
When you are concerned that your drinking behaviour or use of drugs
is bothering others or yourself, then
discussing this with a counsellor may help you to better understand
your behaviour and make changes, if desired.
TEEN COUNSELLING
When you are experiencing problems at home, in school, or in the
community, a counsellor is available for you to discuss such
matters.
PARENTING
Sometimes parents want more information or need help to deal
effectively with their children. In counselling they may gain
self confidence, strengthen the skills they have, and learn new ones
to more effectively deal with their children.
GROUP COUNSELLING
Groups dealing with communications and relationships and groups on
how to deal with stress.
STAFF
Professional trained and experienced staff, both male and female,
with a minimum qualification of a Master's degree, are available to
serve you. Every effort will be made to provide service as soon as
possible, however because counsellors provide service on a voluntary
basis, sometimes there might be a significant waiting list.
FEES
Persons using this service pay according to a sliding scale
established by Parry Sound Family Service, which takes into
consideration the financial status of the family. The scale is
established effective August 1, 2007.
